Music Fun Book 2a

Music Fun Books 2a recaps on salient points covered in Books 1a and 1b but presumes a working knowledge of Grade 1 theory. Together Music Fun Books 2a and 2b, cover the ground needed for Grade 2 ABRSM music theory syllabus.

Rhythm

Grouping of notes in simple duple, triple and quadruple time of a crotchet and a minim is taught, and also simple triple time of a quaver.
Transcribing rhythms in a new time signature is introduced.

Pitch

Note reading and writing on treble and bass clefs with up to two ledger lines is taught with pictorial representation of ladder extensions.
Practice of the above is given with transposition at the octave and transcription from treble to bass clefs and vice versa.
Major scales of up to three sharps and flats are discovered using the patterns of tones and semitones common to all major scales.

More Italian words and signs are introduced and used in musical examples and puzzles.
