Music Fun Stepping Out is the first book in the Music Fun series. It is aimed at young pupils who are just beginning their musical career and uses their language, although it has also been used successfully with older pupils, even adults. As such it addresses the very basics of music theory.
Rhythm
- Rhythm is taught from word patterns, which introduce crotchets, quavers and minims.
- Time signatures of a crotchet are explained.
Pitch
- High and low sounds from the child’s own experience help to explain pitch.
- Teaches notes of the treble and bass clefs.
Words introduced in the book are listed in a short dictionary, and page references given.
Presumes no musical knowledge whatsoever and begins from absolute basics, thus being appropriate for use from the very first music lesson. Be sure you have one or two in stock so that you can use it with new pupils straight away — they will love it and you will have started them off with the right attitude towards theory learning.
