Academic Basis Of Music Fun

Music theory, the language of music, is vital to the development of a child’s understanding and appreciation of music. If your pupil, or child, is going to mature into a confident and able player then it is important that they grasp the fundamentals of theory early on and progress as their skills blossom. Start them early and theory will just be a natural and accepted part of learning their instrument.

The Extra Musical Dimension – MUSIC FUN!

A series of appealing theory workbooks that have been proved to capture a child's attention from the moment the cover of STEPPING OUT is turned.

Cheery characters lead your pupils step by step through music theory.

As the theory advances so the approach adopted in presenting new material changes, making later books suitable for older pupils.

Tinted pages help retain interest and benefit those with dyslexia.

MUSIC FUN – For Students Of All Instruments

Not based around any one instrument. So whether youre teaching the flute or the double bass Music Fun is suitable for your young pupils. However, a version specific to the viola is available should you prefer it.

Unlike many of the available theory courses today, does not require the student to have keyboard skills.

Layout Of The Music Fun Books

Uses simple language and graphics thereby making the early books accessible to your youngest pupil.

The books are approximately A5 in size, with gloss cover and tinted pages. The tinted pages help retain a child’s interest in the book and aids those with dyslexia.

Stepping Out and 1a have 44 pages whereas all the other titles have 52 pages.

Academic Basics Of MUSIC FUN

Pupils are led to discover basic rules of music theory through carefully designed tasks.

Musical directions are broken into small groups for learning.

New facts are consolidated as pupils use them in puzzles and quizzes.

Integrated topics help pupils to retain a working knowledge of theory. New concepts are combined with active use of preceding material.

Intended primarily as a course in its own right, but can be used as supplementary material for pupils needing more practice and motivation.

Covers The ABRSM Theory Of Music Syllabus

The Music Fun series covers the groundwork needed up to Grade 3 of the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music's Theory of Music syllabus.

Except for Stepping Out (which is for absolute beginners) each grade is covered by two books; book ‘a’ followed by book ‘b’.

Viola Editions Of The First Three Books

Based on the general theory books offered by the Music Fun series these viola editions address the treble and alto clef instead of the treble and bass clef. In all other aspects and approach to teaching they are identical to Music Fun Stepping Out, Book 1a and book 1b.
