Music Fun Book 1a

Music theory grade 1 - first of two books

  • Discovery, application, practice and consolidation (quiz) pages.
  • Crotchet, semiquaver, semibreve, dotted crotchet & minim rhythms, basic rests.
  • Notes of treble and bass clef including ‘middle’ C.
  • Semitones, tones, flats, sharps and naturals.
  • Simple dynamic and tempo markings in rhythmic settings.
  • Dictionary summarises words learnt and references appropriate pages.
Books 1a and 1b cover the ground needed for Grade 1 ABRSM theory papers.
  • 1a consolidates and builds on Music Fun SO* but can be a starting book for pupils already familiar with the stave and with reading and writing simple rhythms in crotchet time.
  • Tinted paper - dyslexic friendly; integrated topics.

*For pupils just beginning music, Music Fun Stepping Out teaches the very basics. Be wise and start theory early on — ideally from their first or second lesson — then your pupils will naturally accept it as part of the lesson and home studies.
