If you have been granted a discount then your code must be entered at the foot of your order summary page, see photo below. Click on the button, which reads ‘I have a gift voucher or promo code’, and enter your unique Returning Customer Discount (RCD) code. Failure to do so may result in you not receiving the discount available to you.
We reserve the right to change your discount level at any time and for any reason. Our primary reason for making a change would be for none or late payment of orders for which an invoice has been issued. If you continue to be late in paying outstanding invoices then we reserve the right to cancel your discount completely and possibly cease trading with you.
Late Payments, Refused Payments and Non-Payments
If you order by means other than through our online eShop (e.g. post, phone, email, text …) we will invoice you for the goods sent. We ask that you pay by return post or at least quickly and certainly within the terms of payment stipulated on your invoice. You can pay either by sending us a cheque or by paying by bank transfer over the Internet. Our preferred method of receiving payment is by bank transfer. Details of our bank account are given on the invoice. If you fail to pay us by the due date we will issue you with a reminder. This might be a phone call, a letter, an email etc. If payment continues to be withheld we reserve the right to charge you interest on it plus our costs for trying to recover unpaid or underpaid monies.
The fact that you are reading this means you have found your way to our online eShop. If, for whatever reason, you are uncomfortably using online shopping then please know we are happy to receive your order by whichever means you are most comfortable with. This could be by post, phone, email or by text. Please note though that if you want to use text you must first have registered your mobile phone number with us.
To make emailing and texting of orders quicker and easier by all means use the shortcode for the books etc shown on our website, e.g. MF1a x 3 for 3 Music Fun book 1a.
PP&P (Order Processing, Packing and Posting).
We pride ourselves on dealing swiftly with your order. We aim to Process your order the day we receive it or the next working day if it arrives late in the day, over the weekend or during a holiday period. Orders picked up by 16:00 will normally be in the post the same day. If we have problems satisfying your order within 72 hours we will contact you and agree the solution.
Normally we will pack your order in a single envelope or box but there are quantity breaks where it is not practical to send them as a single consignment. In this event we will dispatch your books in two or more envelopes/boxes and will label them with their count so that you know how many to expect and which, if any, do not turn up. To date we have not had any lost packages.
You will have noticed we only offer the one shipping rate. This is because when all the costs in Processing, Packing and Postage are taken into account the difference between First and Second Class mail is just a few pence. Orders weighing less than one kilogram will be sent by Royal Mail First Class service. Royal Mail aims for next day delivery (Saturday included) with a claimed 93% success rate (June 2018). Our experience supports this claim. But what of orders weighing over one kilogram? If you take a look at Royal Mail’s pricing structure you will see that their prices rocket to sky-high prices. To keep costs down for these orders we ship using Collect+ Standard Service, which offers a very reliable two-day service. Collect+ do offer both to-door or to-store delivery. If you prefer to have your books delivered to a local store offering the Collect+ service for you to collect at your convenience do please ask at the time of placing your order stating the store you would like to collect from. This service takes a day or two longer than their Standard Service. If you want to check out Collect+ click here.
If you require your books urgently by all means ask and we will send them Royal Mail guaranteed next day delivery at the cost difference between the Royal Mail’s guaranteed next day service rate and Royal Mail's or Collect+ standard service rates.
We operate three shipping zones. These are based on the UK Royal Mail definitions. Our three zones are UK, Europe (EU) and the Rest of the World (RoW). The UK is the UK Mainland, Northern Ireland and the offshore islands. The countries tabulated here are defined as being in Europe. If your country is not listed then consider yourself to be in the RoW zone.
If your order has not been received within ten (10) working days of placing it please contact us so that we can put the matter right. If the delay is due to our failings we will offer recompense of 1% of the order value per calendar day outstanding from the eleventh day onwards. This will be capped at 25% of the outstanding order value. We will alert you at the earliest opportunity to any serious delay to your order thereby giving you the opportunity to cancel your order and receive your money back or to continue with the order. If you choose to continue with the order the 1% penalty will not come into effect until the promised delivery date has elapsed.
Books returned within thirty (30) calendar days because they are faulty, substandard, the wrong titles or simply not wanted will be refunded in full, including–for UK and European customers–return postage incurred, or replaced if that is your instruction.
To facilitate your refund, if that is what you have requested, we will need the sort code of your bank and your bank account number. Alternatively, if you are happy to receive your refund via PayPal we will need your email address.
Please include details of the order against which you received the books, e.g. an order number, the order date, your contact details etc. When we send out books the invoice or receipt has on it a tear off slip, if possible please complete this slip and include it with your returned books.
Returned books which are claimed to be in pristine/new condition but which have been used or which are soiled [dog eared corners, bent pages or cracked spine, marks on pages (including erased marks), contaminated by odours (smoking, perfume etc.)] will be refunded at our discretion.
Refunds/replacements books returned after the 30 days will be entirely at our discretion and you should enquire first of our decision before your send them back to us.
Please use the cheapest service for your book returns and any under payment of postage plus 20% will be deducted from what we owe you.
The Data we Collect and Hold of Yours and What we do with it
We are firmly of the view that we should treat your business dealings with us as we would wish other traders to treat our personal data. We respect the data you give about yourself and the answers you give to the questions we ask as you pass through Checkout. We promise to safeguard that information to the best of our ability and yes we do hold it on a computer as well as in paper files. If you prefer NOT to receive such very infrequent mailings be sure to tick the box as you pass through Checkout. We hate spam emails, cold calling and receiving unsolicited marketing post so we simply will not do it to our customers.
If you prefer us NOT to hold your contact details then we will simply process your order as a Nom De-plume and use our address. We will however retain a paper copy of your order for our record purposes.
We are happy to provide you with a copy of all the data we hold on you at no cost and if there are errors correct it within hours not days or weeks of you telling us. If you instruct us to remove your data then we will do so immediately. However, before responding to your request for the data we hold on you we may ask a few questions to verify you are who you claim to be after all we're required to protect it and that means being exceedingly careful to whom we divulge the information too.
Printed data, e.g. names and addresses on paper communications, once finished with is shredded and fed to our ferocious composting worms!
We will not use your data for any mass marketing either by way of post, telephone, fax or e-mail. If you do provide us with feedback on our books we will only use your details to the extent you grant permission and we will, at the earliest opportunity, observe any subsequent instruction to remove those details from our publicity material. On our order form we ask if you are willing to receive relevant communication from us. If you do agree please be assured it will be very occasional and will only be about matters directly related Sounds Write's business. In other words, we will not be sending out loads of irrelevant bumf about products and services that have absolutely nothing to do with our business.
Business is conducted under English law and none of your statutory rights are affected by any of the above.
This offer of FREE books is strictly restricted to Music Educators (private music teachers, peripatetic music teachers, music school tutors, class teachers [state or independent sector] and music hub resource evaluators). To receive your free books simply post or email us proof that you fit one of the above categories. This might be a reference to an online directory (music teachers, Yell …), named as the music teacher/coordinator on a school’s website or, if neither of these are available, proof of your choosing. Make sure you identify the Music Fun titles you would like to try out (maximum of two books) and of course give us your postal address. We will automatically send you a copy of our Weekly Practice Notebook and our booklet ‘My child won’t practise!’ Ideally, we ask that you evaluate our books by giving them to struggling pupils (of theory or practice refusers) of the right age and stage in their music development. We appreciate it will take time for you to evaluate our books and so we will not hound you to buy. If, on receiving our books, you just know they are not for your pupils please offer them to another music teacher who may be interested in them.
If you are not interested in seeing our theory workbooks but would like to see our practise notebooks just say so when requesting your FREE books.
Please note, we reserve the right not to send the books if we doubt your claim to being a music educator or seek further proof if we deem it necessary to prove your credentials as a music educator. Furthermore, this offer is limited to one per name and/or address and if we are suspicious that you are ordering from two or more addresses or indeed others are ordering on your behalf we reserve the right not to send out the second and subsequent request for free books.
